Reuters reported that tornado-spawning storms swept across parts of the central United States, killing at least a dozen people. The storms caused power outages and extensive damage in several states, including Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. More than 260,000 homes and businesses in the southern US have been left without power.

In Valley View, Texas, a powerful storm killed several people and injured dozens more. The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 tornado struck a Houston suburb early Wednesday morning.
